Heels in the clouds,
words on a stage.
Jessica Strongwater is a New York-based composer, lyricist, and dramatist dedicated to capturing the humor and heart of the human experience. With a background spanning broadcast journalism, film, international aviation, and musical theater, she brings a uniquely global perspective to every project she touches.
Jessica’s creative journey began at Chapman University’s Dodge College of Film and Media Arts, where she studied the art of storytelling across film and television. After graduating a year early, she continued her professional journey in the newsroom of KABC-TV, Los Angeles, mastering the intense, fast-paced world of live broadcasting before being called to the skies. This led her to a decade-long career as an international flight attendant.
Having traveled to six continents, 38 countries, and 49 states, she has seen the world a few times over, gaining an unbeatable perspective on humanity. These experiences (paired with her time as a private pilot flying over the New England coast) deeply inform her work, allowing her to weave intricate, authentic narratives into her music and lyrics.
A natural editor with an eye for precision in sound, video, and prose, Jessica transitioned into musical theater with her debut production, A Holiday Homecoming (Harbor Stage Theater Company, 2024), serving as the show’s lyricist. Currently, she is developing JUMPSEAT, an original musical that explores the high-altitude lives of flight attendants—with a few bumps and breakthroughs along the way.
Whether she is composing a romantic duet or writing sharp-witted banter, Jessica’s work is defined by a relentless drive to "fix, change, and improve" until the story resonates perfectly. She is currently freelancing as a writer and composer while preparing for the next chapter of her career: putting her words on the New York stage.
